Its been a while since we have had an update. In that time Bruins nation has gone through some serious ups and downs. First a shaky and slow start to the season, the B’s look like they are having a really hard time finding themselves. They have been inconsistent at best. Its still early, lets hope they wake up and turn this bus around. The next big news item is that Lucic is out on long term injured reserve. He underwent successful surgery on his right index finger this past Sunday. He will miss at least 10 games. That sucks. Third, the popular Chuck Kobasew is now a member of the Wild. Who saw that coming? In return the B’s pick up a 2011 second-round pick, veteran forward Craig Weller, and the rights to fourth-round pick Alexander Fallstrom. A quick google on Weller shows

2007-2008	COYOTES	59	3	8	11	-7	80	0	0	1	72	4.2
2008-2009	WILD	36	1	2	3	-3	47	1	0	0	27	3.7

for the last couple of years. Not that impressive but he is a big boy. He comes in at 6′4 220lbs and 28 years old. Thats a big body to clean out the corners.

The final thing to note is that Bruins have recalled Vladimir Sobotka and Brad Marchand from Providence, this is a great opportunity for these two to make a spot for themselves on the B’s. I wish them well. It should be really exciting to watch the new guys the next few games.

What are you guys/girls thinking?

The Providence Bruins were eliminated after losing two straight at home. Sunday’s loss was a lost in OT and Mondays was… well, it was just a loss.
The plus side is that the Providence club is a young team which bodes well for Boston’s hockey future.

The B’s advanced to semi’s after dispatching Portland in five games. They won last Friday night thanks to the game winner by Peter Shaefer who saw time with Boston last season. Rask has continued to show that he is NHL ready with his rock steady performance between the pipes.

The Lucic Crew should be representing at the Dunk on May 8th!

The Providence Bruins took down the Portland Pirates 2-1 in game 2 of the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs.

Goals were scored by P-Bruins who have made significant appearances in Boston. The first was scored by Vladimir Sobotka and the game winner by Jeremy Reich.

It was a very physical game with the Pirates seeming to be outmuscling the B’s until the third. Sobotka was all over the ice hitting people and creating offense. He also received a 10 minute misconduct in the third.

All in all it was a great game with some great hockey being played the whole time.
