Thornton re-signs for two years
Shawn Thornton has signed a two-year, $1.625 million extension with the Bruins. That’s awesome, he is a great grinder and a steal at $812,500 a year. Congrats Shawn!

Another awesome game by the B’s. No matter the flurry of offense the Habs threw at them nothing seemed to rattle the B’s too much tonight.
Bitz was exactly what the B’s needed him to be. No one could tell that this was his first post season game.
While on the topic of post season firsts… congrats Thorty! Shawn Thornton got his first post season goal of his career tonight (with a helper to Bitzy!). It’s a bit comical that Bergergon gets into his first career fight in the same series that Thornton gets his first career post season goal.
And of course, it almost goes without saying, but there were numerous HUGE saves by Thomas throughout the game to keep the Habs and their fans out of it.
To keep with the Mortal Kombat theme…. “Finish him!”

The B's are a win away from the next round
Lucic is dominating the Habs here.
Bonus points to Thornton for his taunting of O’Byrne the Turtle. “I’ll [expletive] kill you, I swear to God. I’ll [expletive] choke you.” That’s blue collar!
Hnidy is dominating someone here in the second. Lucic was going with two guys at once!
Komisarek just hit Luch from behind. Thornton tried to come Lucic’s defense, but Luch took him down from behind to take care of business himself. At this point there won’t be any one left on the B’s bench and poor Bitz is going to be standing up in the penalty box the whole time. Lucic gets a 10 minute game misconduct.
In other news, Bergeron leaves the ice favoring one leg. Must have been shock, he’s O.K.
As entertaining as this is, you gotta wonder if the Habs are doing this to goad the B’s into this type of reaction? Milbury mentioned how it looks like the Habs have been told not to fight since they are all turtling.
While everyone wants the B’s to win – let’s face it. The B’s aren’t playing for much, and this is their chance to beat the Habs up. We’ll see in the third period…
Boo yeah! Bergeron lays down a HUGE hit in OT to get the puck. Recchi beats Price and there you have it. Bergeron had a hell of a game – I don’t think we’ve seen him have that many hits in one game ever.
Baseball season started? Who cares!
Waiting outside the players’ exit was interesting again Saturday. Thornton was in the passenger seat of a RI plated Jeep and did not stop. Ryder reluctantly stopped his Escalade to sign autographs. Savvy stopped his Land Rover, Sharpie in hand ready to go which I thought was awesome. Especially after a game like that one. Brick stopped to sign stuff, as did Bob Sweeney. Even Julien stopped his Land Rover as well on the way out.
Only the second period so far but what a display of total team play. Hunwick is taking care of business on both ends of the ice, Thomas is looking like the All Star he is (with his saves AND his assist!).
Thornton responds early in the second and has a go with Parros. Thort held is own, taking a few shots and ultimately got the take down. Parros looks like he’d play on the antagonist’s team in a movie.
Luch absolutely pounded Brown. Definitely not your normal bout. That was a personal battle being fought. He was certainly fired up afterwards.
We learned that Savy can only be pushed so far. Not much of a fight due to what looked like a loss of balance.
Of course, thrown in between all this fighting is four B’s goals with two of them scored by Kobasew.
Great fire and great team chemistry happening tonight.
John Bishop wrote it best…
“That is a fired up Bruins team going to the locker room. Anaheim poked the bear and the bear woke up.”
This should be an exciting third period!
Not too much excitement so far, but Bitz shines again. Good effort, good show of strength as he scores his fourth goal of the season.
This is the best they’ve looked in a while. Good power plays, good penalty killing (SHG in the third!). Luch had an assist, a bunch of shots and bunch of hits. He keeps coming closer to back in form.
The Bitz, Thornton, Yelle line was fun to watch all game. I’d have to imagine that would be a hell of a line to go up against in a line brawl! Bergeron played very well – even had a huge hit in the 2nd. Sobotka made his presence know with his “Little Big Man” (thanks Jack Edwards!) style of play all night long.
Timmy was the man again. How many times has that been the story line for a B’s game this season?
Wow, first off, what the hell are they thinking with those jerseys. Those have to be the single most horrific uniforms in history. Secondly, the Canadiens can bring any thug they want (HENRY) and they will be dispatched right quick. Thornton continues to shine with Bitz, could he be the next 7th player?
After the first NJ penalty last night, the camera went to the box and behind the glass what do I see? A Lucic Crew shirt! Thanks to who ever that was!
Thornton had a go early. It’s a shame he lost his footing, but at least he got back up. I wouldn’t award a clear winner as it seemed they both were throwing punches with no one giving out more than they were getting.
Overall sloppy play last night. It was a great team effort to climb back into the game – but no one wants to lose like that. At least they got a point.
Wow. Rock-em sock-em Robots returned to the Garden last night when Shawn Thornton and Chris Neil threw down and renewed their long rivalry. If you haven’t seen it check out the video- Watch it here.
